Perhentian Trip (5-9 Aug 2005) - Etching Memories
One of the key reasons why I created a blog was so that I could etch my memories of the Perhentian trip whilst it was still fresh in my mind. It was truly a great holiday, much better then I expected.
Day 1 - 5 Aug
left at like 9+ at night. I couldn't really sleep, hyder either. We both kinda squirmed in our seats and probably got abt only 2-3 hrs of sleep out of the 12 odd hours ride. Luckily we both had our MP3 Players to keep us entertained for quite a few hours.
Day 2 - 6 Aug
Arrived early in the morning in Kuala Besut (I think that's the name). Had breakfast and jumped on a speedboat that whisked us away to our island getaway. The view upon arrival - ABSOLUTELY breathtaking. All I could say was "It's Beautiful!!". Checked into New Cocohut Chalet, room wasnt the greatest, but hey we were HARDLY in the room except to shower and sleep right? Lunch was fantastic... well it was the first packaged meal so it was great.. hehehe..
Managed to get Sebastian from Scubaholics to agree to help us get our PADI license by the time we left. But by time we finished our first dive lesson, we were is shocked! Salt water in the nostrils ain't so glamours and breathing through the mouth was no piece of cake either. So we gave it up - now i think its too much too fast.
So we decided to take it slow and actually have a relaxing holiday. I forgot how hard it was to wash salt water outta the hair, lucky i packed lots of conditioner! Dinner was great.. so was UNO.
Day 3 - 7 Aug
Free snorkelling trip after breakfast.
OK - Got lazy.. and stopped updating...
[Cont'd] Oh yes... Snorkelling! Darn fun got really burnt! Was kinda tired after snorkelling at 2 places, but we seem to keep losing our boatmen who were actually out catching fish. Came back to a late lunch, nice clean shower and a great nap. How relaxing!
Day 4 - 8 Aug
We took it slow that day. After breakfast, we kinda "chopped" 2 deck chairs on the beach under a lovely shaded albeit raggardy hut. Tried snorkelling again, this time along the beach resorts, equally beautiful. Beautiful corals and fish right at your door. How lovely!! Too bad I didn't have a underwater camera. Ended our last day/night on the island in an equally relaxing manner with dinner and drinks. Dinner was always good, food was plentiful and fresh. A bit too much squid though. Think we had sotong for every meal except breakfast!
Day 5 - 9 Aug
Was kinda sad that we had to leave... really wished we could have stayed. On the other hand, was eager to go back to Singapore too. Anyways, my wish was kinda delayed. Why you might ask? Cos we left the island at 8am in the morning and did not manage to get back to Singapore till 1am that same night. BLIMEY - Sore ass and patience worn till its minimum. We told ourselves - next time we try the train or we get a night bus. Hard to sleep in the day.
Bottom Line!
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! except for some teeny weeny details but HEY, it was still worth the memories and experiences that I took away. Can't wait for the next trip!!!! I can just hear myself saying, "Shall we buyour own snorkelling gear dear?" kekeke....
